Living Beyond Your Past

Within My Heart by Tamera Alexander chronicles the journey of two characters:  Rachel Boyd –  a young widow – struggling to run a ranch and fulfill her late husband’s dream; Rand Brookston – a doctor haunted by the shadows of the past –  working to build a new future in the Western territory.  When Rachel and Rand cross each other path: Will Dr. Brookston’s future includes Mrs. Rachel Boyd?

Rachel Boyd is faced with devastating  circumstances –  beyond her control –  that could cost the life of a loved one.  Rachel is forced to decide to open her heart and place her trust in Rand Brookston.  However, in order to help Rachel, Rand must confront his own fears.

This story of forgiveness is relatable and heart-felt. Through the eyes of the author, witness how both Rachel and Rand must face their hurts and fears to find love and life beyond the pain of the past.  The characters are complex yet real; the imagery is and the plot is compelling.

Even though this is a fictional work, the historical context and vivid characters draw you in from the beginning. The storytelling of Ms. Alexander makes it impossible to stop reading until the end. You will find yourself invested in the challenges the characters’ face and the raw emotions expressed in this novel.   Within My Heart is another success for Tamera Alexander.  I really enjoyed this book!
